|Professional Support for GP Trainers|
All GP Trainers across Pennine have undergone thorough training to achieve this status.
Ongoing support for all trainers is available in many forms:
Trainer’s Group Meetings
These are held twice each “term” i.e. 6 meetings annually.
As Pennine is a very large group, we have split the patch into four localities namely, North Manchester, Oldham, Bury and Rochdale.
There are two Business Meetings planned each year for the group as a whole, there are four further locality based meetings where Trainers join together and run their locally agreed agenda.
Newer Trainers are encouraged to “buddy up” with a more experienced Trainer, either in the same practice or nearby. This allows mutual support within a friendly atmosphere. The GP Educator team are happy to help facilitate this if required.
Training Programme Directors
The GPST PDs are here to help with any enquiries regarding training in Pennine, be they about hospital posts, courses or individual GPST’s. All GPST’s are allocated a named PD whom to contact with any issues. Currently there are four PDs for the patch and we each take responsibility for part of the patch, roughly equating to the Trainer locality areas as outlined above. We are the first port of call for any problems, and would wish to be involved early on.
